Biographical Sketch

Professor Buck is a native of Los Angeles, CA. He completed his BS in Engineering from UCLA in 1975. He received the MS and Ph.D. degrees in Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley in 1977 and 1982 respectively. His thesis work centered on nonlinear four-wave mixing.

At Georgia Tech, he has conducted research in ultrafast optoelectronic switching and short voltage pulse propagation, as well as in nonlinear optical materials characterization. He has developed courses in fiber optics and nonlinear optics.

Dr. Buck’s hobbies include music and photography.
