Biographical Sketch

Prof. Glytsis was born in Suez, Egypt, and grew up in Athens, Greece. He earned the BSEE and the Electrical Engineering Diploma from the National Technical University of Athens in Greece in 1982. He then moved to Atlanta, Georgia, to attend the Georgia Institute of Technology where he earned his MSEE and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering in 1984 and 1987, respectively.

His studies focused on integrated optics devices and anisotropic gratings. Then he joined the faculty of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of Georgia Institute of Technology as an Assistant Professor in January 1988. He has been a Professor since July 2000. Dr. Glytsis has made significant contributions in the fields of diffractive optics and quantum optoelectronic devices.

His hobbies include attending movie theaters, walking, stamp collecting, and sports.
